Love, Compromise and Sacrifice

Today we are encouraged to remember the sacrifices of those who gave of themselves for our freedom. They sacrificed themselves and compromised their own hopes and dreams. They did this because they loved us.

Some thoughts on Love, Compromise & Sacrifice:

  • Love will ask you to step out of your comfort zone. It’ll ask for you to sacrifice and compromise; if you can’t do that, you’re not ready.

  • When you are willing to compromise and make sacrifices for someone, that’s where you feel true love

  • Compromise is not an act of weakness. It demonstrates that you care for something or someone beyond yourself.

Whenever there is a conflict, there is a potential for sacrifice. Sacrifice is good for us. But inherent in sacrifice is the willingness to let go. No one can sacrifice unintentionally or under coercion. The same is true of love.

God gave the ultimate sacrifice. He did it for love. With all of the pain and potential for conflict, God in his wisdom gave us a choice of how to respond. When we see the willing sacrifices of those who love us, we are drawn to give of ourselves as well.

Let's make sure we take time today to consider the sacrifices love has made for us, and to respond by loving in a sacrificial way!
